"Raw yet Refined" - Karen Shchedrin/ The true harmony between rough and refined

One of the biggest challenges in interior design is finding the balance between a space that feels designed and a space that feels accessible and warm. Karen Shederin 's design approach can be summed up in three words: Raw yet Refined .

This means combining materials in their most natural and raw state – such as exposed concrete, black iron or untreated wood – with precise finishes, sharp angles and meticulous symmetry. This combination creates positive visual tension; the rawness gives character and a story, while the polish gives the luxurious and clean feel.

At Haus No. 7, each object is chosen to represent this balance. When a raw object is placed on a smooth marble table or next to a thin glass, the space takes on a depth that cannot be achieved with uniform materials. This is the secret to a design that does not look “effortless,” but one that comes from a deep understanding of material and form.
